Fokker 50 joyride
had been a while since i last took a joyride on a plane.
i tink its about 2months?
lols. haha.
dats quite a short time compared to other ppl.
but also quite a long time compared to the pilots.
alright. one day, during our basic ground sch, the fight pilot, Ken, asked if anybody is intrested in a Fokker 50 joyride.
upon hearing its a joyride, me and youjia immediately raised our hands.
however its on a friday and sch holiday havent started yet.
through much consideration, we still decided to go 4 the joyride and pon lesson.
HAHA.
woke up early 2day.
rush all the way down to syfc and took attendance.
then we are sent to changi air base (west) where we board the Fokker 50.
b4 that was all the safety briefing and basic introduction.
lucky we where the 1st group to board.
cus i cant stand waiting for my turn to go up in the air.
alright, some background info.
the fokker 50 is a high wing transport aircraft.
40+ seater. 11hrs of flight time.
the interior is like a bus.
2paris of seats per row.
my 1st time boarding a military plane.
as usual, camera fones are not allowed.
so we left it in a locker in SYFC b4 leaving for changi.
the plane obtain clearance swiftly and soon we are on the runway. changi runway.
the runway that comerical aircraft uses.
bet u guys didnt noe that the Changi air base share the runway with changi airport.
however there are 2 other runways located there.
a 2nd is only for landing, i pressume.
and a 3rd one only for F16D.
after we took off, the first point the plane flew to is in the direction of the northern coast of indonesia.
didnt really flew all the way there la.
just above the sea.
then it took a sharp turn towards sentosa, and another turn towards hougang, flying directly above paya lebar air base.
fyi paya lebar air base it the place where the air force open house is located.
next we turn again flying above bukit timah and flew all the way past keppel harbour.
then make another turn to the starboard.
flying towards jurong island with senotsa in view on our right.
then comes the boring part.
cus the plane could not get clearance from the ATC in changi to land.
so we had to do circuits around Pulau Sudong.
bet u guys didnt noe dat theres a emergency offshore runway there.
for around 30mins we are in the curcuits.
but its gud.
cus we get a chance to look at the cockpit.
and also a chance to take a gud look of the area in Delta4.
then, finally the clearance is given for us to land back at changi.
the taxy back was long than the taxy for take off.
the plane was so warm.
everyone was perspiring.
after we alight then we realise that the 2nd group mus wait for us to land and get out b4 they could board.
poor guys.
after we get off, we were given a break. while waiting for the bus to arrive.
we left eariler than the 2nd group.
cus they, like us, was also stuck up there in the sky doing circuits.
lols.
overall, the joyride was quite fun.
a unique 1st time experience 4 me.
not many ppl will get a chance to take a look of the singapore 4rm the sky.
i will truly treasure my chance to be a student pilot in SYFC.
and i will surely get my PPL!
